I am in the process of filing unemployment claim and recieved some paper work telling me that I had been working for a certain company although I have never heard of them before. Apparently someone has been using my social security number. How do I stop this person from using my info?

Can a simple address or name or IP address of PC allows you to steal their identity? Or they need something like a credit card number and social security #?

LAPD wants, my full name, address, all my previous address, all my previous work, my social security number, my mother’s maiden name, bank name bank account numbers, all my credit card name and numbers etcetera. They have more information about me than what I can remember. Is it safe regarding identity theft? I am afraid that one bad LAPD employee might use my info to do identity theft. I have excellent FICO score. How safe is it?

I lost my Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Health Insurance Membership Card, Auto Insurance Card.
How many different ways can someone use these things to commit identity theft. For example opening new lines of credit, withdrawing money from my accounts, racking up medical bills and auto accidents…any other ideas or real life-experience anyone has?

Someone mentioned to me that you can safeguard your social security number by writing to social security and asking them to issue you a four digit pin. I did check on social security’s website and didn’t find what I was looking for? Any help would be appreciated…thanks!

i requested my brother to go and get my official school transcript so i gave him a piece of paper with a picture of my drivers liscence, my social security, and my address and he lost it. I’m afriad someone is going to find it and steal my identity help!
