I am in the process of filing unemployment claim and recieved some paper work telling me that I had been working for a certain company although I have never heard of them before. Apparently someone has been using my social security number. How do I stop this person from using my info?

I have a 4 month old. We have ordered her SS card twice now and have not received it either time. I noticed that our mail box looks like it has been pryed into, and have asked at the SS office what I should do. They said that I need to alert the credit agencys. The lady at the SS office says that a SS # is never associated with a birth date and if someone has stolen her # then they could be racking up all kinds of stuff. Well that is fine however every # I have called doesn’t get me to a real person and mentions nothing about child identity theft. Does anyone know any real #’s to talk to a person about this?
Our apartment office is in charge of maintaining our mail boxes, the post office didn’t do anything but refer me to the apartment office, and the police can’t do anything cause they aren’t sure a crime has been committed.

I have recently done a background check on myself and have found an unknown name and address associated with my social security number.

What does this mean and what should I do? I assume it means that someone tried to use my social security number and their address to receive credit cards. But where do I go from here?

I’m envolved in the Lockwood vs. Certigy Inc. class lawsuit and I’m entitled to identity theft reinbursement if the court decides to grant the settlement between the plantiffs (many people!!!) and defendent. What does this mean? My check and credit card info was sold to a third party. I know that.
I hope I can choose my own identity…it would have to be equal or lesser value than mine to count probably. So…that would be tough because i’m pretty up there…just kidding…that was vain.

Somebody has created a very offensive myspace page under my name. It is a very very offensive page, and i would like it to be deleted. i emailed myspace, and they havent responded yet. It happened two days ago. I also would like him to gedt into some form of trouble for this, but my boss at work, where it started said he cant do anything, and the policew said to talk to my boss. Since he is using my name without my permission, cant i file some sort of identity theft lawsuit against him?
it’s not my boss that made the page, it is a coworker. This coworker has been being very offensive and cruel towards me for a long time now, and he just finally crossed the line. My boss cant do anything about it, as it occured outside of the workplace.

My husband is a victim of identity theft and it is obvious that the stuff isn’t his because he doesn’t even live wherever the things are from.
He went to file a police report but they said he needs documentation and the bills. How can he get that stuff if he doesn’t know who it is and he only found out from a copy of his report? Also the companies claim that he needs to file a report….but he doesn’t know the persons name?
How does he go about this? What should he do?

Can a simple address or name or IP address of PC allows you to steal their identity? Or they need something like a credit card number and social security #?
